Why should I consider Nashville Song Evaluation?
A country songwriter who is trying to break into the Nashville songwriters scene is judged by the songs he or she writes. If they know how to write a song that is strong, they usually get invited back by those who count. If they don't know how to write song lyrics, the doors close and future opportunities are lost. Nashville Song Evaluation will review your songs with you before you submit them to Nashville Music Publishers and Nashville Record Companies. By speaking directly with a member of our staff, you will gain valuable insight on how to strengthen and improve your songs before it's too late.

Does Nashville Song Evaluation only evaluate Country Music?
The songwriting tips and songwriting help you learn from working with NSE apply to all types of music; however, since we specialize in helping those who want to break into the Nashville music scene, the majority of the songs we evaluate are Country, Bluegrass, Folk, Christian or Rock. All types of music are welcome at NSE.

What can I expect during a Song Evaluation?
If you rewrite your songs after the evaluation and take into consideration the songwriting tips and songwriting help you have gained from NSE, you can expect your songs to be clearer, more concise, have more impact and be more in line with what professional Nashville songwriters have to offer. During your telephone evaluation with one of our staff members, each of your songs will be examined in terms of its musical and lyrical content. Among other attributes, your music will be scrutinized in light of its originality, its arrangement, its ability to hold the listener's attention and whether or not it is appropriate for the song's message. The evaluation of your lyrics will include suggestions on how to make them clearer, stronger, easier to follow, more powerful and more emotionally packed. Your evaluation will contribute to your songs' overall strength and professionalism. It's like going a songwriting school or taking songwriting lessons!

How long does the evaluation take?
In most cases, you will hear from Nashville Song Evaluation within 5 working days of the receipt of your demo recording and/or song lyrics. At this time, a telephone appointment will be scheduled for your evaluation. The actual evaluation will usually be within 10 days of the initial contact and will last for about 20 to 30 minutes per song. Times may vary due to the nature and complexity of the songs being evaluated.

Can I ask questions during the evaluation?
Absolutely! We encourage you to ask questions...That's what Nashville Song Evaluation is all about. Due to the nature of NSE, however, we ask that you limit your questions to those that are relative to your songs and their evaluation. This would not be the time to discuss Nashville Song Publishers, Nashville Record Companies, Nashville Record Producers, Nashville Recording Studios, demo recordings or the like.

Will NSE help me write or rewrite my songs?
Your song evaluation and the songwriting tips you receive will only help you if you take what you have learned and apply it to your songs. If you are unwilling to re-write your songs, then NSE isn't for you. There is no need to pay for an education you don't intend to use. During your evaluation, you will receive songwriting help and beneficial suggestions but it's up to you to use all that you have gained. We do not co-write with our clients.

After the evaluation, will NSE tell me where to take my songs, provide me with contacts or promote my songs?
At Nashville Song Evaluation, we stick with what we do best... We evaluate songs. Making contacts with Nashville Recording Studios to set up a music demo session is beyond our scope at this time. Likewise, appointments with Nashville Music Publishers, Nashville Record Companies, Nashville Record Producers and Nashville Artist Management Firms are something that writers currently have to take care of for themselves.

If I am a singer as well as a songwriter, can you help my singing career?

If I am a singer as well as a songwriter, can you help my singing career?
At NSE, we evaluate songs. We can help you fine tune your songs by giving you an honest evaluation of your works and songwriting help; however, we do not promote performing artists.

Should I Worry About My Song Being Stolen?
NSE enjoys a reputation of honesty and fair dealing. We don't steal songs. Nonetheless, it is always a good idea for you to protect your songs before you start passing out a demo CD, demo tape or lyrics to strangers. If you have any doubts about the integrity of NSE or anyone else who will receive your demo recording, then do what other Nashville songwriters do.....take the time to protect what is yours. The sugested way to do this is to copyright your songs. Some writers will have their works dated and notarized instead. Others will mail a copy of their songs to themselves and get a clear dated post mark put on their package at the post office.

Will NSE Return My Songs After The Evaluation?
Yes. Simply provide Nashville Song Evaluation with a self addressed envelope with sufficient postage. Your demo CD or demo tape as well as your song lyrics will be returned by US mail.

Will NSE accept song lyrics without music?
Yes. Nashville Song Evaluation defines a "Song" as a work that contains both music and lyrics OR a work that contains song lyrics alone. We are happy to evaluate just lyrics and to offer songwriting help to everyone.

If I write just lyrics, can you help me find someone to write the music?
No. NSE deals only with songs and their evaluation. We do not make contacts of this nature on your behalf.

If I write just lyrics without music, is the cost the same as if I write both?
Yes.

How much does it cost to have my songs evaluated?
The cost is $49.95 per song.

Can I get a discount for more than one song?
Because of the time involved in reviewing your songs before and during your phone evaluation as well as the qualifications of the NSE staff member who will work with you, there are no discounts available for multiple song evaluations.

How do I make payments?
You may pay by check or credit card. If you wish to pay by check, the full amount of your evaluation must be sent with your song submission. You will then be contacted and an appointment will be set for your evaluation. If you would rather pay with a credit card, send no payment with your submission. When we receive your demo recording and/or song lyrics, we will contact you to schedule your evaluation and to request your credit card information. ½ of the total amount due will be charged at this time. The balance will be charged at the time your evaluation begins.

""How Do I Submit my songs and what do I send?
Simply click on the "Submit A Song" Button on the left side of this page and follow the easy directions.

Do I need to send a music demo, demo CD, demo tape or any other type of demo recording?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. If you write both music and lyrics, a music demo or some sort of demo recording is a must. This recording (either a demo CD or a demo tape) should be simple and can be made at home...there is no need to go to a demo studio at this time. Since you will most likely be using what you have learned during your evaluation in subsequent rewrites, please wait until after your evaluation before spending that kind of money. If you write song lyrics only, a song demo is not needed. Just typed lyrics will do fine..

Does Nashville Song Evaluation offer any guarantees?
After your evaluation, there is no guarantee you will be able to place your songs with any of the Nashville Music Publishers, Nashville Record Producers or Nashville Record Companies. When it comes to accepting new songs, organizations such as these as well as Nashville Artist Management Firms make up their own minds. Whether or not you are successful in selling your songs to companies like these depends on how well you use what you have learned from your evaluation and whether you have properly learned how to write a song and song lyrics. Your success is further based on your skill of getting your songs in front of the right people at the right time. These factors lay outside of the services provided by NSE.

Is Nashville Song Evaluation a LLC?
Yes, we have been a limited liability corporation since our inception.
